I have so many memories here, I love this place!!!!
I graduated from BHS and now my daughter attends. I love the family atmosphere because most of my family either attend or work there, but the standards are lacks. Certain Teachers are known to just skate by. The are children suffering from poor instruction. There are certain teachers that just plain don't do their job and suffer no consequences. And the teachers that should be commended are fired or discriminated against. It needs new and stable leadership at the school level and the school board level.
I attended this school from 2000-2013, and it is without a doubt a great place. Good educational institute. If I could go there again from start to finish I know without a doubt i would.
I would not trade my high school experience here for anything. Bethlehem is very fortunate to have teachers who genuinely care about you as a person and want to see you succeed in life. I have enjoyed my years here and would recommend this school to anyone.
I attended this school from August 1988 thru May 2001. This included all my kindergarten thru 12th grade years. I am proud to have graduated from this school. It shaped a big part of my character. The teachers were, by and large, excellent. They were fair and knew the subject that they taught. They took a personal investment in the character that their students developed. Class sizes were mostly small averaging 20-25 students for most subjects. I graduated with 38 other students. I cherish that diploma. Mr. Maxwell in his previous review claims that students are "beaten" with wooden boards. He does not cite his sources for this information and has not personally witnessed any of this. Let me tell you what I have personally witnessed/received. When I attended there, the rule was that a student could be spanked--noticed I did not say beaten. Another teacher had to be present and informed prior to the spanking. The child was told why they were receiving the punishment before the spanking. The spanking was limited to only three swings for the offense. The buttocks was the only allowed impact area. Additionally, the child could only receive a total of five swings for the entire day. The teachers were not mean. They were not cruel. They were fair. I received many paddlings. I earned them. The truth is I earned a lot more spankings than what I received. The ones that I got though taught me that I could not get away with The conduct I was guilty of. I was never bullied or beaten. Finally, I would like to remind Mr. Maxwell that corporal punishment is legal in Florida schools. Bethlehem School already conformed to the limitation that the 2009 law limiting its use imposed. I hope this is helpful.
